Character builidng is an attempt to instill good habits (habituation) so that
learners are able to behave and act upon the values that have become his
personality. One important media of character building is Hindu education in
Pasraman. This study aims to assess integration of character building in Hindu
education in Pasaman in Jabodetabek.
This study was conducted in 5 Pasraman in Jabodetabek Region during May
- November 2015 using mixed methods with quantitative and qualitative
approaches. Aspects that assessed were the planning, management and
implementation of character building, and impact of character building in
pasraman, and supporting and limiting factors of integration of character building
in Hindu education in Pasraman. Data collected by observation sheet,
documentation studies and questionnaires.
Based on the results, this study concluded that character building in Hindu
education in pasraman in Jabodetabek not yet fully run well. This is evidenced by
poor planning process, and poor implementation of character building in
pasraman. Factors supporting the implementation of the integration of character
building in pasraman were teacher’s motivation. While the limiting factor is low
motivation of students to study in pasraman, teachers had low knowledge of
character building, parents still value-oriented, and inadequate infrastructure in
pasraman.
Government has to change paradigm of pasraman managers, teachers,
and parents regarding religious education. Pasraman empowerment as a means of
character building should be optimized for Hindu children. |
